The Turks & Caicos Islands boast a variety of kiteboarding conditions. Friendly to the beginner of the sport, we have shallow flat water bays with consistent winds. For the more experienced rider, the swells on the north side are fun and kitesurfing on the reef is always a challenge.
TURTLE TAIL
Located on the south side of the island, Turtle Tail bay is where you go when looking for flat flat water. It is very shallow protected bay and when the wind direction is right you can ride straight out to the ocean.
LONG BAY
Long Bay is very shallow protected bay and when the wind direction is right you can ride straight out to the ocean.. Imagine standing on a beach that is walking depth of water as far as the horizon. No currents, no shore break, no sea urchins, no crowds. Our predominant wind direction makes Long Bay ‘on’ or ‘side-on’ winds.
GRACE BAY
When the North or NE winds are blowing its off to Grace Bay. For the more advanced rider, Grace Bay will give you swells to chop hop, shore break to surf, and for the very advanced rider, there is the north shore reef to kitesurf. The reefs waves come in multi layers at times reaching 6-10ft high. Pictured on the right is pro rider Dimitri Maramenides riding the north shore reef. This is his favorite place to kitesurf when he visits the Turks & Caicos Islands. A challenge for even a pro rider.
